Here at SohoFrames, we have many years of experience in framing football shirts as well as many other sports shirts like rugby shirts, cycling jerseys, and basketball vests, as well as shorts and football boots too. We are also experienced in framing many other garments, ranging from military jackets, racing driver suits, underwear, leotards, scarves, and wedding and christening dresses.

However, football shirts are definitely the most popular item of sports memorabilia framing, and the photos below show but a few recent examples of our work. We frame shirts the SohoFrames way, often full-size and using minimal intervention, meaning that we use just a few carefully placed stitches in the seams, and perhaps a bit of archival tape to hold the shirt in place. Our clients, everyone from fans to clubs, like a professionally made shirt frame made by us due to our attention to detail. Please see HERE for further information about our technique.

As with all our specialist framing, everything is customisable. Frames can be standard gallery black, in solid wood like walnut and oak, or even designer carved or sprayed in team colours. Frames can be personalised with an engraved plaque or a text box, photographs, or additional sports memorabilia.

Football shirt framing takes around one week. We also offer a fast service when, for example, an urgent gift frame is required. Just contact us for details.

Why choose SohoFrames to frame my football shirt?

That’s a great question. We have spent more than 10 years perfecting our technique so your shirt will be displayed at its absolute best.

What is the SohoFrames football shirt framing technique?

It means we frame the shirt full-size with minimal intervention.

What are the steps needed to frame a football shirt?

There are five basic steps.

  1. Steam any creases out without damaging any signatures.
  2. Stretch the football shirt onto an acid-free or archival quality board.
  3. Stitch the shirt into place.
  4. Design and computer cut a bevel-edged window mount to suit the exact shape of the shirt.
  5. Frame the mounted shirt using materials of the client’s choice.

Can you frame any size of shirt?

Yes, we can, although the method and style seen here on this page could change depending on the size.

What do you mean?

It means that for example, a rugby shirt, which is typically a lot larger than a football shirt, may need a different process to display it beautifully.

My football shirt is very valuable. Do you make holes in the shirt when pinning it to the backing board?

Our method, since the end of 2024, uses hardly any stitches at all. If there are any, it will be in the seams around the collar and sometimes the sleeve seams. This means that if unframed the shirt will be in almost the same condition as when you first got it.

What do you mean by stitches?

These could be cotton stitches or tiny plastic t-tags, the sort that pins a pair of new socks together. No stitch holes are made in the main body of the shirt. Stitches would be in seams, cuffs, collars, etc, where there is already stitching.

Do you only frame football shirts?

We frame, and have framed, all sorts of garments, everything from military clothing, F1 racing suits, shorts, underpants, bikinis, leotards, basketball shorts and shirts, cycling jerseys, hats, socks, wedding dresses, etc. Etc. Just ask!

How much does it cost to frame a football shirt?

We do charge more than the internet service shirt framers, but the way we do it requires a lot of steps and processes. Plus, everything is customised to the exact shape of the shirt – every one is photographed and a CNC machine then cuts a window mount to suit it exactly. There are also a vast amount of frame styles to choose from, including custom sprayed team colours. But if you love it, then frame it well because you will then be able to enjoy it hanging your wall for many years without thinking “I wish I had done it like SohoFrames do shirts…” (for example!)

How long does it take to frame a football shirt?

The standard turnaround time is one week. Frames with custom colour spraying take 2 to 3 weeks.

But I need it today! It's for a corporate gift / birthday etc!

We can often produce a bespoke football shirt frame in one day. If something is urgent, please contact us ASAP and we will get to work!

What approximate size is a finished football shirt frame when the shirt is framed "full-size"?

Roughly 800mm x 800mm, does depend of course on size of shirt plus the frame profile.

What is the most popular frame profile for a shirt frame?

The 20mm wide x 30mm deep profile is the most widely chosen, giving a slim modern look to the frame for its size as well as being deep enough to accommodate all the inside parts (backing board, shirt mount, top window mount, glass).

I would like my shirt folded though, not full-size as I don't have the space. Can you do this?

Absolutely. We are led by what the client would like first!

I would like two shirts in one frame. Possible?

We have done this many times. Just get in touch and let us know what you would like.

Can I incorporate other elements into my football shirt frame?

Of course. Everything we do at SohoFrames Ltd is customisable. We often add engraved plaques, photographs, even football boots into these types of frames. Anything over the standard size though can mean we use a different method to display the shirt.

I want to change the outdated frame and framing style of my existing football shirt frame. Can you do this?

Yes, we can. That said, we have sometimes seen shirts from other framers that have been mounted with staples and have ruined the shirt to the point where it is not possible to re-mount it without showing this kind of damage. It would be a case of having to open the frame before we could say what is possible. If there are any problems though we can usually come up with a workaround.

Can I ask for a quote over email or WhatsApp or do I have to bring it in?

Bringing the shirt in always works best as then we can go through the process together, showing you frame samples etc. However, you can certainly email or WhatsApp us a picture along with the size, the style you like (folded or full size) plus the kind of frame you are looking for (for example, custom painted, solid polished wood, standard black gallery etc) and we can get back to you with costs and options that way.

Can you frame any number of football shirts?

We can frame anything from a single football shirt to entire collections, both for individual collectors and football fans, as well as for corporate clients.

Can you organise delivery of the finished football shirt frame?

Yes we can. Please contact us for details. And we will of course need the delivery address!
