DOUBLE-SIDED PICTURE FRAMES
DOUBLE-SIDED PICTURE FRAMES
All the double-sided picture frames shown on this page were designed and made in-house in our Soho workshop.
A double-sided picture frame can mean a few things. Sometimes it is called a reversable or two-sided picture frame as well. These types of picture frames can mean something simple like a signature on the back of an artwork that would like to be accessible, or a stamp of some kind. It might be a certificate of authentication or a few lines of text. Not truly double-sided but often labelled as such. And yes, we can and do make frames to accommodate these requests. On the other hand we receive requests for true double-sided frames, usually because the artwork is itself double-sided or two display two artworks, one on either side. Most of these types of frames are what are called desktop frames, but some can hang from the ceiling or stand alone on the floor.
We make all types of these picture frames to order so everything is customisable, shape, size, colour, finish. Just because it is not seen here does not mean we cannot make it!

DESKTOP DOUBLE-SIDED FRAMES
DOUBLE-SIDED FRAME WITH PLINTH STAND
This example was made from solid walnut timber, which we milled to order to house to back-to-back multi-aperture window mounts. Glass on both sides of course. The stand shown is a plinth stand with a pleasing concave bevel that the frame slots snugly into.
EMPTY DOUBLE-SIDED FRAME WITH PLINTH STAND
This view shows the internal space of one of our custom made double-sided picture frames. Removing the straight-bevelled plinth stand allows the inside parts of the frame, artwork and glass, to be slid out. We can mill or carve both the frame and plinth to suit your own style or vision.
DOUBLE-SIDED PICTURE FRAME FEET
This shows a close-up of a different type of desktop stand. We carve these frame supports to order in many styles. All of our hand-finished picture frames can be adapted to be double-sided. We can make “feet” or plinth stands for them too.
CLOSE-UP OF PICTURE FRAME FEET
This photo shows close-ups of some different style of carved picture frame feet. We normally use these for our double-sided frames, but they can also be used on standard single-sided desktop frames, an alternative to a traditional strut-back. We can make these to almost any design or size. Wood, colour, and finish is also totally customisable.
LARGE DOUBLE-SIDED STANDING PICTURE FRAME
This frame was actually made from a customised standard frame 40mm x 40mm black woodgrain profile. To make it double-sided we held the rear panel of glass in place with custom milled L-shaped spacers that were screwed into a channel routed into the back of the moulding. The feet were custom carved from the same wood type and stained to match. The frame was also finished with a coat of hard wax oil to match the feet.
LARGE DOUBLE-SIDED HANGING PICTURE FRAME
A similar artwork and similar frame. However, the client for this frame wanted to display it hanging from the ceiling. This was done with steel hanging loops screwed into the top section of the frame.
