SohoFrames is one of the UK’s leading picture framing workshops. We specialise in various areas of this ancient trade and one of those areas is the design and making of exquisite round mirror frames. We make these frames to exact client specifications in our 5-storey Soho workshop. There is a wide range of frame types and finishes to choose from below. THE POSSIBILITIES
We make mirror frames in other shapes too. These could be oval, triangular, hexagonal, octagonal, even square or rectangular. In fact, we can make mirror frames in almost any technically feasible shape and in almost any profile shape. This could be flat, curved, rounded, scooped, cushion, ribbed, hockey stick, etc. The possibilities are almost limitless for creating something special and unique. We also offer a range of customised colours and finishes. Custom designed joints and engravings either of a particular custom design or text on the front or sides of the mirror frame are also available.
We can supply two types of round or oval mirrors. Plain mirror or bevel edged. You can also supply your own.

*Please note that the pictures here are of real round mirror frame samples. You are welcome to examine them in our workshop. Both the photos and the actual samples are for reference purposes only. Wood is a natural product and both colour and grain can vary from what is shown.
Almost all our round mirror frames are made from a single plank of timber so the grain flows around the entire frame, though this may not be possible with larger frames. You are welcome to choose the wood yourself from our stock. Please just ask.
All our mirror frames can be as simply elegant or as luxuriously embellished as you like. It all depends on your vision and we can help you turn that vision into something uniquely gorgeous.
We can adapt any of the picture frame examples you can see on our website from the following ranges into circular or oval mirror frames. You can also customise every part and detail of your mirror frame.
MAKE IT UNIQUE
If you have a design of your own, perhaps a specific pattern or a carved feature like flowers or animals, then please send us a sketch or visual of your idea. We can then see how best to turn that idea into a real physical frame. This is first done with a 3D render and then by making a sample frame section. There is often no charge for this.
We can make mirror frames in almost any colour too, even matching home or office decor paint colours like F&B and Little Green.
Any size is possible and as with every mirror frame, we make is made to order, you can specify whatever size you would like.

ROUND MIRROR FRAME EXAMPLE PROFILES
SOLID WOOD ELEGANT RANGE
SQUARE SECTION
This is a very popular profile shape. It is 20mm wide x 20mm deep. And we made this from American Red Cherry. It was finished with a hard wax oil to deepen the colour. The example joint is what we call “puzzle,” and was designed by Alex Vintilescu.
SQUARE SECTION
This example we made from American Black Walnut, which actually has a colour that ranges from light brown to chocolate brown. The example joint is what we call “Spoon,” and was also designed by Alex Vintilescu.
SMALL WALNUT CUSHION
This sample section is made from solid walnut plank. it is 40mm wide across the front face and 30mm deep. We first stained the wood to give it a richer colour and then applied a hard wax oil to protect it. This sample, along with everything else on this page can be inspected in our workshop.
MEDIUM WALNUT CUSHION
This example of the same cushion profile is 70mm wide x 35mm deep. We can make this profile in almost any profile size. We can customise your round mirror frame to your exact specifications. These samples were made from solid walnut plank that we select ourselves from a local timber yard.
LARGE WALNUT CUSHION
This is the largest example size we have made in this cushion profile shape. The front face width is 100mm and the side depth 38mm. The two sections of this sample were butt joined and reinforced with beautiful custom carved butterfly plugs on the reverse side.
KW TRADITIONAL
This is a lovely profile shape based on a traditional style of picture frame. These next four samples are all 80mm wide on the front face x 30mm deep on the side face. This example is made from solid Walnut with a natural hard wax oil finish.
KW TRADITIONAL
This sample we carved from solid Walnut wood. We then gave it a deep chocolate stain and applied several costs of hard wax oil to give it a rich satin finish.
KW TRADITIONAL
This example was carved from solid Tulip wood (also known as Poplar) and then finished with a mirror gloss lacquer over the natural wood. We can make these frames with almost any profile size to exactly suit the diameter of your mirror.
KW TRADITIONAL
We can make our round mirror frames from two basic materials: wood and engineered woods. What material we use depends both on client specification, budget as well as the finish needed. This sample was made with Medite MDF and was then custom sprayed in matt white though 100s of colours are available.
WALNUT MAHOGANY
This photo shows three example profile sizes, 50mm x 50mm, 40mm x 40mm and 20mm x 20mm. We can of course mill this profile to almost any profile size. For these samples we applied a rich Mahogany stain topped off with mirror gloss lacquer.
SOFT CUSHION
These next four example profiles are all made from Obeche wood. They are 50mm wide x 25mm deep. We can make these frames to almost any profile size. This example was finished with a black water stain and hard wax oil.
SOFT CUSHION WITH TRIM
This is an example of the same profile shape, size and finish but with the addition of a gold trim to the sight edge. We can make trims or slips with almost any finish. The size of width of the slip can be customised.
SOFT CUSHION LIGHT WALNUT
Again the wood of this sample profile section is Obeche but we finished it with a stain to match natural walnut as closely as possible. It’s a good compromise between solid walnut and cost.
SOFT CUSHION DARK WALNUT
With this sample, we darkened the stain to match it as closely as possible to our solid chocolate walnut range.
FANCY JOINT RANGE
DOUBLE PUZZLE JOINT
This gorgeous piece of wood is Black American Walnut. The natural colour is a rich tan and the example joint is what we call a “Double Puzzle Joint.” The example profile is 53mm wide on the front face and 53mm deep on the side face.
SINGLE PUZZLE JOINT
We made this beautiful curved profile example from a plank of solid Walnut wood. The shape is a mushroom hockey stick and it features a single wide puzzle joint.
ISLAMIC ART INSPIRED RANGE
QATAR
Simple in name, beautiful in appearance. Well, we like to think so. This was carved from natural Walnut (it’s our favourite wood) and finished with a soft coat of finishing oil. We adjust the design so that it flows harmoniously around the entire circumference of the round mirror frame.
ARABIA
We adore the fine geometric designs often found in Islamic Art and therfore inspired, we replicated this design style. Made again from Walnut, the filigree panel placed over a golden base with an airgap between the two levels to let in light and shadow.
CUSTOM COLOUR RANGE
CUSTOM COLOUR ROUNDED
We can spray paint our round mirror frames in a huge range of colours and finishes. Here we show a selection of different profile widths painted with two-tone palette. The base colour and top colour can be anything you like. We made these blue just for example. They were finished with polished gloss lacquer.
CUSTOM COLOUR ROUNDED
Wider profile sizes just for comparison, and different colours. The curved shape accentuates the glittery paint finish. We can make these in almost any colour, profile size and finish, matt, satin or gloss.
LIQUID METAL RANGE
LIQUID METAL
The liquid metal process works extremely well for round mirror frames. The surface is real metal, cold to the touch, and conductive. We spray the metal onto either Tulip wood or Medite MDF. Further customisation is possible. These three samples are White Bronze, Brass, and Bronze. We can use the Liquid Metal technique on any profile size, but the profile shape must either have flat and / or smoothly curved surfaces.
LIQUID METAL
These three round mirror frame samples are in the same metals, but shown on larger profiles. We can also spray copper and all of the four metals that we offer can be mottled with acid, the colours depending on which metal the acid is applied to. The polished finish will develop a patina in time. We can also apply either a matt, satin or gloss lacquer coat on top to prevent this.

Can you make a mirror frame for a mirror I already have?
Yes, we can. You can order a mirror from any supplier you wish, and we can make the frame and fit it for you.
Can you arrange collection and delivery?
Of course. We deliver worldwide.
Do you also offer professional installation of the framed mirror in my home?
We can help organise this for you by making an introduction with our trusted installer, Jack, of Art Install.
I am an interior designer. Can you make a mirror frame to my own design and with my own brand engraved into the back?
No problem at all! Just let us know what you would like.
How much does a mirror frame cost?
Cost depends on the type of frame chosen. Complex carved and or gilded frames cost more than a simple but elegant polished wood frame.
Do you make round mirror frames from MDF?
Yes, we do. We can either supply these “raw” i.e, unpainted so the client can paint or gild them themselves or we can finish the frame to with either spray paint or gilding. It’s really up to you!
I am not in the UK. Can I still order a mirror frame from you?
Absolutely. We have an international clientele.
So you can handle international deliveries?
We do everything we can to make the process as smooth and easy as possible. That includes arranging packing and delivery.
What sort of mirrors do you supply with your round mirror frames?
We offer what is called Plain Mirror in circular or other rounded shapes as well as bevelled edge mirrors.
What about rectangular mirrors?
We also supply regular mirrors. Mirrors with straight edges have the option of a bevelled edge as well.
What are the advantages of a bevelled edge mirror?
The advantages of a bevelled edge mirror are principally aesthetic as the bevel is visually attractive. It acts as a kind of prism, bending the rays that strike the rim or edge, creating spangles of light.
Can the width of this bevel edge be adjusted?
It can. Although the average width is between 20mm and 25mm.
What other Mirror shapes can you offer?
Virtually any technically feasible shape is possible.
