HAND FINISHED FRAMES BRIXTON

Hand-Finished Picture Frames Brixton

Here at SohoFrames in our 5-storey workshop, Master Framers Dylan Hall, Oliver Gaskin, and Curtis O’Dell design and make what we feel are the finest solid hand-finished picture frames Brixton and in all of South London.

All of our gorgeous solid wood hand-finished frames are made from sustainable timber that we personally choose ourselves from a local FSC timber yard. To minimise our carbon footprint as much as possible, we travel to and from the yard on public transport, often bringing back one or two planks for a specific job on the train.

Everything we do is made exactly to your specifications. The photos below show just two ranges of our most popular Walnut wood variants. These have a natural and a mahogany finish, but we also offer a deep chocolate finish in this wood. The photos showcase some of the profile shapes sizes and finishes available. However, we can custom mill almost any profile shape and size you would like to compliment best your particular framing, art or mirror project.

The most popular woods are walnut, oak, ash, tulip and cherry, and we make all profiles you can see here in all these woods, plus any adaptions you require. We can also apply a clear polished mirror lacquer to any of solid wood frames. If a wood stain colour is required, blue, pink, yellow, green etc then we can do this too. We do not charge for samples either. For colourful stains we tend to use Ash as it is a pale wood with a close but appealing grain pattern. Please see HERE to see examples of this.

We can make frames from more exotic woods, using solid FSC timber of other wood types (Pine, Douglas Fir, Maple, etc), but also by upcycling your old furniture, doors, draining boards and old picture frames. It is possible to adapt any of our picture frames for rounded corners. Please see HERE for more information on this.

Why choose us? Good question. We have one of the fastest, if not the fastest turnaround times in London, without compromising on quality. How so? It is because we have a full complement of highly skilled frame makers on our team.

We also offer unrivalled customer service. For example, you are most welcome to email, call or message us 7 days a week, Bank Holidays included. If it is out of hours, the best method is WhatsApp, and we do our best to get back to you promptly even if it is out of hours. We often work late into the evening answering queries and taking calls, which is appreciated by our overseas clients in different time zones.

There is no appointment needed to visit our London picture framing workshop. We can even show you around the various floors of framing we have, which include two CNC mount making machines. You are welcome to inspect the timber we will use for your frame and if commissioning a custom carved frame, for example, you can even choose your own timber from our stock of planks. If there is something that you would like that we don’t have we will do our best to source it.

We print on-site using the latest Canon printer and Lucia inks along with high-end digital scanning (up to A3 in size) and organise delivery of the finished frame(s) as well as helping organise professional picture frame installation with one of our trusted partners. Hand finished frames Brixton – FAQs

Q. Why should I choose SohoFrames to frame my picture and not a truly local framer?

A. We always point potential clients to this concise blog before considering whether to choose us or anyone else to frame their pictures. Please take a look. How do I find a really good picture framer? 7 good rules! – Soho Frames

Q. But location matters! Why SohoFrames over a framer right on my doorstep?

A. Turnaround times is one further answer. Travelling to SohoFrames in such a well-connected city is worth the peace of mind  knowing that your artwork will not only be in the hands of experts but that you will receive your framed artwork back very quickly. Here’s a another guide to Turnaround time (Why Does Custom Framing Take So Long? – Soho Frames) And time IS precious.

Q. But I like to support a truly local framer.

A. Fair enough. But it might be worth asking if the local framer on your doorstep is truly local. Many frame workshops have a “local” presence but actually frame off-site in another location that could be many miles away. A possible giveaway that this is the case is a long turnaround time. SohoFrames frames onsite in Soho.

Q. How wide is your catchment area?

A. All of London and beyond, including overseas.

Q. I would like to visit. Do I need an appointment?

A. You are welcome to visit our workshop at your convenience. Truly. The only time we ask that you give us a little notice is if you wish to visit us outside of our official opening hours.

Q. And what about cost?

A. We make, design and build picture frames of the very highest quality across a range of budgets, but whatever the budget, the same care and expertise in the framing of your artworks is applied. You can be confident that you will receive the very best value for your money by choosing SohoFrames.

Q. Explain “value for money.”

A. Value in picture framing can be measured across various metrics: quality, reputation, expertise, efficiency, customer service, the range of both standard and specialist picture frames on offer, the craftmanship guarantee, and more. For example, Custom Carved Frames and Beyond Frames are places on the SohoFrames website that showcases picture frames and other objects commissioned by picture framing clients that reflect the overall quality of this particular picture framing workshop.

Q. Can I customise any of the Hand-Finished stock profiles to my exact liking?

A. As long as it is technically possible then yes.

Q. Does that take longer?

A. It depends on the complexity but simple alterations to profile size and shape often do not increase the turnaround time.

Q. Can you collect and deliver if need be?

A. Yes we can.

Q. And if I send a WhatsApp message or call on a Sunday or during the evening will you answer?

A. We generally do, yes.
