FURTHER CUSTOMISATION

Most of the rounded corner picture frames clients commission us to make are plain, painted or natural wood. However, we can adapt any of the frame examples you can see in our custom carved range to have rounded corners.

You can also design your own. Just send us a sketch or visual of your idea and we will do the rest, first turning the idea into a 3D render and then moving on to make a real physical example for you to look at. There is often no charge for this service.

FRAME MATERIAL CHOICES

We offer several types of wood for our rounded corner frames Westminster service. The most popular is Walnut, which has a beautiful natural soft brown colour and a fabulous grain. We can also stain this wood to change the colour. Mahogany, Chocolate and Rosewood colours work extremely well. A hard wax oil finish seals, protects and enhances the intrinsic beauty of the timber ensuring that the picture frame will give many years of pleasure.

The other wood types that we offer are White Ash, White American Oak (we can also source the darker European Oak though supplies are often limited) Tulip (which is also known as Poplar), American Red Cherry, Pine of various types, as well as Maple and Douglas Fir.

Regardless of the timber species and colour, natural or stained, we can also further enhance the finish with various levels of clear lacquer. Standard lacquer finishes are matt, satin, gun gloss, and mirror gloss. (And yes, we also make regular rectangular and round frames for mirrors, as well as supplying mirrors too).

CUSTOM STAINING & SPRAY PAINTING

If bright colours are desired, then we can stain the wood or custom spray to almost any colour code. This could be the RAL code system, or matching Pantone ink colours, but we can also match home deco colours and create custom colours if required. As with natural wood, the final finish could be matt, satin or gloss. All these finishes work well with rounded corners.

As well as using timber, we can also make our rounded corner frames using engineered sheet materials. Medite MDF and Valchromat are the usual choices. We offer the choice of using Medite MDF when the requested paint finish is a solid opaque colour. It also means we can carve the frame in one solid piece. That said, for larger picture frames we would use Tulip wood for this. Clients often choose Medite MDF when ordering our solid colour circular and oval picture frames. The quality of the finished frames is still fabulous, just different.
