Welcome to our Picture Framing Westminster service!
We are makers of some of the finest picture frames in the country. Our range spans a wide range of budgets. We also have probably the fastest turnaround times in the industry thanks to a skilled and expert team of picture framers. Every frame we make is made in-house in our own five-storey workshop right in the centre of Soho. We are open six days a week, and you are welcome to pop in and see us at your own convenience. No appointment is needed, unless that is you wish to come before or after our normal opening hours. We also endeavour to reply to all email enquiries promptly. You can also contact us via WhatsApp, message or call, and even if it is after hours, evenings or weekends we will do our best to answer or get back to you.
FRAME RANGES EXPLAINED
Standard Frames
We make gallery standard picture frames using pre-finished lengths of moulding sourced via our suppliers from Italian factories, as well as many other ranges. These mouldings are of great quality, and we join and finish them with exactly the same skill and care as employed in the making of a custom carved picture frame.
There is a wide choice of profile shapes and sizes as well as a selection of colours to suit almost all types of artwork. Our normal turnaround time for standard frames is one week, often quicker.
We fulfil many of our sameday or nextday framing orders using these types of mouldings.
Luxury Frames
These are again sourced as pre-finished lengths, but the designs and finish are more involved than the profile shapes and sizes found in the ranges above. This range also features some of our own picture frame creations, frame designs that we carve and finish to order. We did this because there is a yearly and steady decrease in the selections offered from our suppliers due to the expense of manufacturing high-end pre-finished lengths of picture frame moulding. So we now produce many ourselves, improving on the finish and also the build quality. We can do this because we control every aspect of the picture frame.
Aluminium Frames
We source all of our pre-finished aluminium picture frame mouldings from the same German supplier, Nielsen Bainbridge. They are suitable for a wide range of picture framing projects, and are popular for office and other commercial framing projects due to their sleek appearance. We frame many film posters using aluminium frames.
Poster Frame Range
This range of frames features a fixed 22mm x 22mm profile and is available in a small but versatile selection of colours and finishes. They are the most keenly priced, but the quality is exactly the same as any found in the standard frames range.
Hand Finished Frames
This range is by far the most popular for our picture framing Westminster service, probably due to the fact that we can customise every part of the frame to your exact requirements. We do of course offer a wide range of “standard” profile sizes, shapes, timber types and finishes. However, we can adjust any of these to exactly suit your taste or the artwork size. For example, you might like the look of the 15mm wide x 30mm deep profile, but would ideally like the front face to be 14mm or the side depth 25mm. No problem. There is often no charge at all for minor alterations to the standard profile sizes. And by the way, the most popular timber species is Black American Walnut. We can sometimes produce hand-finished frames on a sameday or nextday basis.
Tray or Floater Frames
We offer many types of this specialist type of picture frame which is predominately requested for the framing or artworks on canvas. Our selection includes many pre-finished standard profile sizes, colours and finishes, as well as hand-finished, custom colour and custom carved, and of course, a hand-finished tray or floater frame can be all three. We also offer professional canvas stretching and re-stretching.
Custom Colour Frames
Hundreds of colours are possible. We can also apply many different types of finishes in this range, everything from liquid metal to mirror gloss lacquer. It all depends on your imagination.
Round Frames
We are specialist in the production of the finest round and oval (actually any shape) picture frames and send these all over the world. You can customise every part of the frame and also design or your frame and we will make it.
Rounded Corner Frames
Is what it says it is. The rounded corner is a gorgeous embellishment to any frame and works with almost all artworks and mirrors.
Custom Carved Frames
We love a challenge! This range features some of the finest picture frame profiles in the industry. We designed them to give a potential client an idea of the possibilities. Many of these are samples made from client’s own sketches and visuals. We custom carve picture frames for both standard profiles with rebat (the frame lip that keeps the glass in) as well as tray or floater frames. Literally anything is possible, even if it is just for one small frame. As we say here at SohoFrames, if you love it, frame it, but remember you will be looking at it for a very long time so do it right the first time!
Double-Sided Frames
We love making these. They fall into the Hand-Finished bracket as every one is made exactly to order so the frame works both for the artwork and the space. For example, our truly double-sided picture frames can be stood on a desk or mantlepiece, or hung from the ceiling. They could be floor standing, even if oversize. And they could be hung on the wall like the swivel frames of the 19th century that had one innocent artwork on the front, but for evening parties, the inside could be rotated to reveal an altogether different genre of artwork. And yes, we can make these too!
