ROUND FRAMES HACKNEY
Welcome to SohoFrames of London, one of Europe’s finest makers or circular and oval picture frames, which are suitable for framing both artwork and for displaying mirrors.
Every round or oval picture frame that we make is made to your exact requirements.
We make these specialist type of picture frame from two types of material. The first is solid wood, using timbers like walnut, ash, oak, cherry and tulip (also known as poplar). The other materials we use are engineered wood products like Medite MDF and Valchromat.
The most popular wood types for our solid wood frames are walnut and ash. However, we also use Rec Cherry, White Oak, Pine, Douglas Fir, Poplar (also known as Tulip) etc. We can also upcycle your old wood into a new and glorious looking picture frame!
We make these round or oval frames in sections and join these sections together using a variety of different joints, functional designs we call spoon, butt or puzzle. We can also design bespoke joints for these frames depending on what you would like as joints not only provide strength to the frame but are also decorative and so add to the overall beauty of the chosen frame profile.
Everything is customisable. We have created many design profiles from simple but elegant square, rounded, hockey-stick and cushion shapes to intricately carved designs. The finish can be natural wood with an oil polish, but we can also stain to order and lacquer for either a matt satin or high gloss finish.
A variation of the round frame is the rounded corner frame. These add a beautiful accent to almost any regular rectangular or square frame and they work with many different styles of artwork. It’s like having the best of both worlds.
When a smooth flawless painted finish is required, we often use sheet materials like Medite MDF. If the outside diameter is less than 1100mm we can carve these in one piece and then custom paint in a huge variety of colours, matching using RAL codes, matching Pantone colours as closely as possible as well as home decor colours like F&B and Little Green etc. As with natural wood, we can then apply a top cost of matt, satin or gloss lacquer to protect the paint.
If you would like a truly unique round or oval frame for your home or business premises, you are welcome to send us your own design ideas. This could be a sketch on the back of an envelope or a visual drawn from the internet. We would then turn this into a 3D render and after any changes or amendments would then go on to make a real physical sample for approval.
We can supply any of our frames as rim only for yourself or your own local picture framer to fit your artwork, or you can send your artwork to us for mounting and fitting by our expert picture framing team. We can also print your artwork from supplied digital files. We can also of course arrange collection and delivery.
