Welcome to SohFrames of London. We make fine round and oval picture frames to the highest standards or craftmanship couple with a customer service to match. As well as making circular frames, we also make regular rectangular frames with beautifully roundedcorners. We make everything from the initial consultation, design and the making of your picture frame right through to the delivery to your South London address as easy and as pleasant as possible.
We make our circular frames either from solid timber that we select ourselves from a local timer yard – and yes, to minimise our carbon footprint as much as possible we often carry our wood back on the train. Black American Walnut, White American Ash and Oak and American Red Cherry are firm favourites for this sort of picture frame. And We can make these frames with a natural oil finish, or we can stain, paint and polish them. The variety of possible finishes is huge. For example, solid natural timber can have an oil polish, or we can apply a matt, satin or mirror gloss clear lacquer over the wood. We can also stain both Walnut and Ash, making the natural colour deeper or richer, and if a bright colour is required, we can do this on Ash. Please see HERE for more information on custom colouring. It all depends on what you would like.
If a solid colour is required for your round, oval or rounded corner frame then we can make these from either Tulip (also known as Poplar) or Medite MDF. Our smooth flawless paint finishes can literally be hundreds of colours and again, like with our clear lacquer, the finish coat can be matt, satin, gloss or mirror gloss.

We can turn almost any frame you see on our site in our Luxury, Hand-Finished or Custom Carved frame ranges into a circular or oval frame or for a frame with rounded corners. We can customise the profile dimensions of our frame examples, front face width, side depth, shape, and the patterning, if applicable. If there is something you would like that you cannot see here, then we can make it for you. We welcome all design ideas and challenges. You can send us a sketch on the back of an envelope or a visual of what you would like, and we will do the rest. There is no charge for 3D renders. We can then make any changes or amendments to the design and or pattern, and if approved, go on to make an actual physical example for you.
There are several options to think about for rounded corner frames. The outside can be rounded with the inside angled, as per a conventional frame, or we can radius both the internal and external corners. We also offer a version of a rounded corner that has a top spline, which covers the mitre joint. It all depends on your personal taste. We have physical examples of many types of rounded corners and circular segments in our 5-story workshop. You are also welcome to visit us and see our carving and milling room.
