Welcome to SohoFrames where we make some of the finest round and oval picture frames in Europe. All the frame examples and finished frames you can see on this page were made by Master Picture Framer Curtis O’Dell. We use various wood types like Walnut, Oak, Ash and Cherry, and everything can be customised to suit your exact requirements. We can carve circular frames to almost any shape and profile size. We can also spray-paint and stain these frames in almost any colour and with either a matt, satin or gloss lacquer coat. Send us a sketch of your design idea or another visual reference and we will turn this into a 3D digital model for you to look at. If all okay, we will then go on to make an actual frame corner sample from your initial sketch that can be either viewed over a WhatsApp video call or sent directly to your address in Spain. We can then make any alterations, if needed (and we would make a further refined framer corner sample for you).

Our round or oval frames can be ordered as a rim only service, but we can also print
and fit artwork and then dispatch the complete frame to your Spanish address. We handle both the packing and the shipping to Spain. We work hard to make sure it is a quick and easy process.

The two photos below show just some of the possible profile shapes that we can
make into circular and oval picture frames. We can make any of these shapes larger
or smaller, wider or taller to suit your requirements, and all profile shapes and sizes
are available in almost any wood type.

We make our round and oval frames in segments. We do this to make sure that the grain flows smoothly around the circumference of the finished frame. Each segment catches the light in a different way while remaining harmonious to every other segment. We join these segments using a variety of techniques. There are three main joints that we employ: spoon, butt, and puzzle. All these types of joints make for a strong and durable picture frame and add a beauty of their own to the finished piece.

Although we can carve round frames to almost any profile shape, some of which can have extremely intricate and unique design details, the most popular profile shape has a square or rectangular section. The front face ranges from 20-25mm and this works with all three types of joint.

Solid walnut wood is very popular. Frames made from this can have a natural oil polished look, like fine furniture, or for example, if we use a wood like Ash, the more pronounced grain pattern works well when we stain it. We can stain in a huge variety of translucent colours. We can also custom spray paint our round and oval frames in to almost any colour code. We can then apply either a matt, satin, gloss or mirror gloss lacquer onto the smooth flawless colour.

If a gold frame is required, we also gild in 22k gold and spray with liquid metal, which could be chrome, white bronze, brass, or copper. We can leave the metallic coat natural so that it tarnishes in the atmosphere, or protect it with the same different lacquers as above.
