We have a saying here at SohoFrames: “If you love it, then frame it properly.” We say this because whatever its value, a picture of your dog, or a Picasso. For us it’s the same. We invest the same standards of care and professionalism whatever the artwork, one because we care and to us every piece of artwork is priceless and we treat it as such, and secondly, because we know that our picture frames will be expected to last for many years, if not several lifetimes. We do this because if someone makes an enquiry or arrives at our door holding a picture, painting, photograph, drawing, football shirt or a fistful of sporting or military medals we guess that they want to look at them on the walls of their home or workplace and never have to say, “I wish I had got that done properly!” So, is it worth getting picture framed professionally? We think so based on this one thing alone. Another thing is that a professional picture framer will not only know how to handle your artwork correctly but will also be able to guide you through the entire process to ensure that you end up with a picture frame that displays the artwork to its best advantage and is worthy of being displayed on a wall wherever it may be.
Framing an artwork may seem straightforward, but many seemingly ordinary things like gloss photographs or film posters need careful handling and mounting if issues aren’t to appear in later weeks months years. Modern film posters, which are made from a type of plasticised paper can wrinkle. Vintage ones can degrade and fade. The signature on signed items can vanish. Glossy photographs can ripple and warp. Colours can fade on some printed artworks. Et cetera. A professional framing company will know how best to go about the framing process to make sure these issues do not arise. And if something cannot be guaranteed, like for example, the fading of an autographed piece due to the type of pen used, then they can suggest ways to mitigate it. A professional picture framer will also design, make and expertly assemble the actual frame to the highest standards. This makes for a durable frame, and one that will last. A professional picture framer will also have knowledge to answer any “weird and wonderful” requests. It may be that you would like a picture frame that is very personal and individual. A special colour perhaps, or a design or pattern on the frame. Or one made to fit in with the home décor, which could be spray painted to match or compliment the walls, or the wood that the furniture is made from. We receive many requests like this in our workshop, and we have never yet said no. It is often the personal touch that matters. Client service is a part of this, and speaking for ourselves, we feel that it is something that sets us apart from the others. We will do and enjoy going the extra mile so that the client ends up with something to be proud of and leaves satisfied having enjoyed an excellent experience. So, is it worth getting pictures framed professionally? Absolutely!
